Exhaust Valve Spindle and Seats

At YAF Engineering, we offer complete reconditioning services for all types of exhaust valve spindles and valve seats, restoring components to OEM specifications through precision engineering processes and advanced welding technologies.

Despite being manufactured from specialized heat-resistant alloys, exhaust valve spindles are prone to thermal cracking, surface erosion, and exhaust gas blow-by, especially on the mating and bottom surfaces. This degradation, if left unaddressed, can significantly impact engine performance and safety.

We recondition a wide range of spindle materials, including Nimonic, DuraSpindle, and Stellite variants.

Inspection & evaluation process:

  • Dimensional calibration and dye penetrant crack detection using original inspection gauges
  • Spindle grinding if only minor wear is detected
  • If more serious damage is found, a full reconditioning workflow is applied:

Exhaust valve spindle reconditioning procedure:

  • Detailed inspection to determine welding and repair requirements
  • Machining of worn material layers from all affected areas
  • Rebuilding of spindle surfaces using automatic MIG/TIG welding and laser cladding, with Stellite or Nimonic alloys per OEM specification
  • Final CNC machining to restore standard dimensions
  • Chrome plating and precision grinding of the spindle stem (if required)
  • Post-repair dimensional verification with precision tools and OEM gauges
  • Comprehensive technical report provided to the client

Additionally, we follow the DuraSpindle reconditioning process where required, ensuring adherence to manufacturer-specific standards.

Valve seats, whether straight-type or W-type, are also reconditioned using similar techniques to ensure proper sealing, material strength, and combustion efficiency.
