Windlass- Mooring Winches

Windlasses and mooring winches are essential components of a vessel's anchoring and mooring systems. Their proper function is critical not only to vessel operation but also to the safety of the crew and ship during docking, anchoring, and emergency maneuvers. Subjected to heavy mechanical loads, marine corrosion, and at times improper handling, these systems require expert inspection and maintenance to avoid wear, breakdowns, or operational failures.

At YAF Engineering, we provide comprehensive maintenance and repair services for windlasses and mooring winches, both onboard and at our workshops.

Our services include:

  • Jack-up load tests and detailed technical reporting
  • Overhauling of brake systems, including renewal of brake bands and maintenance of brake mechanisms
  • Full disassembly, inspection, and overhauling of drums, shafts, couplings, and drive components
  • Shaft repairs, including alignment control, bearing journal rebuilding via laser cladding or submerged arc welding (SAW), as well as machining or new shaft fabrication
  • Bush fabrication, available in standard or split-type, using high-grade G5, G7, and G12 bronze, all kept in stock
  • Hydraulic motor overhauls and spare parts supply
